Lojing Highlands
Lojing is located in the south-west of Kelantan state with an area size of 1,817 sq km. The sub-district of Lojing only forms 22.42% from the district of Gua Musang with and altitude from 610-1,500m above sea level. Temperature ranges from 18-25deg C. It has 3 main areas i.e. Betis Area, Hau Area and Sigar Area. Of the 5,613 people recorded as residents here, 4113 of them are the indigenous race, Temiars. Lojing was officially launched as a sub-district of Kelantan Darul Naim on 5 Aug-10. The name “Lojing” was long used before 1900, according to the Temiars. The logging trails were the first access roads into Lojing and Cameron Highlands. The early settlers were started by the Temiars beside Sungai (River) Belatop and Sungai Brooke. It was also believed that the head of an Asli family, called Ajing was the first pioneer at Sungai Belatop. The area was named after him, which then became LOJING.
Somewhere in the Sigar area, a family's initiative to create a self sufficient farm for personal use has became a center for permaculture, often creating workshops for guests from faraway to learn about sustainability and provide opportunities to practise the new found skills at the farm while staying in a comfortable lodging. Moonriver Lodge, only 12 km from Cameron Highlands, is a nature's hideout for individuals, families and a small organization to get away from the city, to engage with nature, to have a little adventure, to learn, to heal and to be at peace.
