Libaran island lies at the North-east coast of Sabah, about 40 minutes boat ride from Sandakan and five minutes away from Selingan island which one of the main islands of Turtle Island Park. Libaran island support about 450 inhabitants whose main livelihood is supported by fishing and boat making. Turtles are known to come ashore and lay their eggs on the island.
